How have NHS staffing levels changed since its inception in 1948?

The NHS was founded in 1948, amalgamating existing charity and insurance based societies, as well as creating new ones. Within its first year, the NHS employed 68,000 Nurses and 11,700 doctors.

By 2019 this figure had grown to 217,000 and 115,000 respectively.
